Congratulations to Prairie High School senior Emma Speer. Emma received the Emerging Volunteer Award from United Way of East Central Iowa at a ceremony held on April 16.

The Emerging Volunteer Award honors an individual in high school, college or young professionals under the age of 40 who have made significant volunteer contributions to improve the community. Emma is involved in Key Club, Student Council, National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society and Ambassadors Show Choir. She also works at our Early Childhood Center.

Emma has volunteered at numerous non-profit agencies in our community and has encouraged others to get involved by volunteering. Emma will receive $500 from United Way of East Central Iowa to be donated to a nonprofit agency of her choice. Congratulations Emma!
