AK and Kindergarten

Kindergarten preliminary enrollment is now open! If your child will be 5 year old by September 15, 2021, they are eligible to enroll in AK or Kindergarten for the 2021-2022 school year.

AK/KINDERGARTEN PRELIMINARY ENROLLMENT FORM

ALTERNATIVE KINDERGARTEN (AK)

The College Community School District also offers a program for student whose parents feel they are not ready for full-day kindergarten and wish to retain them for a year before entering kindergarten. AK students must be 5 years old by September 15, 2021.Due to a limited number of openings, not all requests will be granted. AK is divided into two half-day sections, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. To accommodate family needs, wrap-around care is available for a fee from 6:30am-6:30pm, Monday through Friday.

KINDERGARTEN

Starting kindergarten is an exciting time for you and your child, we want the enrollment process to go as smoothly as possible for your family. To enroll for the 2021-2022 school year a child must be 5 years of age on or before September 15, 2021. For further instructions about the registration process, please see the kindergarten registration document.

Building Placement

The district office determines building placements. Due to a variety of factors, a student’s building placement for kindergarten is not determined by the student’s preschool placement. The key factors that are considered when assigning students to one of our five excellent elementary schools are class size and the demographic composition of the student body. The district’s goal is to ensure all five elementary schools have similar student populations. College Community’s central campus allows us to balance both the students demographics and resources to the benefit of all children and building assignments are critical steps to this balancing effort.

Because of College Community School District’s unique placement process, we ask that each family fill out the Preliminary Registration google form to begin the registration process. This will ensure that we have all incoming AK and Kindergarten students on one document. If you are undecided as to whether your student will be ready for kindergarten and their birthday falls on or before the September 15, 2021 cut off date, you are encouraged to choose the AK-Half Day Program. CCSD’s AK program is limited to 32 students. You can always let the Registrar know if at any point you change your mind and prefer the full day kindergarten program.

Residency

Per Board Policy 501.6 all students must live in the district and provide proof of residency to register.
