Alternative Kindergarten
Is your child ready for school? If you have a child who is four years old, you have probably asked yourself that question many times. The College Community School District has a program specifically designed to help prepare those students who might not be ready for full day Kindergarten. The program is called Alternative Kindergarten (AK) and is located at Prairie Hill.
AK is a half-day program for students who have summer birthdays. AK students must be 5 years old by the September 15th cut-off date for Kindergarten enrollment. Students work on a variety of skills, including academics, such as numbers and letters, listening skills, and social skills. AK is divided into two half-day sections; one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
